I am falling in love with Young Adult stories lately and this one if high on my TBR list. Wowza. I really enjoyed this book. I am not sure what I expected but I was impressed. Sophie Jordan did an amazing job of drawing out the emotions of this story and making me step back and take a look at certain aspects of humanity and society in an objective manner. I felt like I was experiencing everything with Davy. The confusion of what was happening to her. The fear of what would be her life and the danger of the label she was given. The heartache at a life lost and dreams shattered. There were times when I was agonized for the injustices thrown upon her because of a gene she had that may or may not cause her to kill. Davy’s courage and humanity were vital throughout this storyline. Her courage to face each day and go out into a world that hated her. Her continued humanity to love and feel compassion in a world that had tried to strip her of that very characteristic. It broke my heart when she began to believe the propaganda of what society said, yet her strength caused her to get up and fight for her life and right to live. One of the main key’s to Davy’s sanity is Sean O’Rouke. When he is first introduced, Sean is the epitome of one who has HTS. Dangerous, arrogant, deathly calm and branded with the imprint of HTS on his neck, the testimony to his violent tendencies. I love how Sophie causes us to take another look at what is right in front of us. A person can never be judged by the markings of society. Instead he becomes the hero to this story. He defends those who cannot protect themselves. He defies the logic of HTS with his compassion yet fiercely defends those he has claimed and cared for. Watching the relationship between Davy and Sean unfold was well paced, sweet and natural. This book will cause you to think and take a step back and examine life’s intricacies. Don’t miss out on Uninvited. I cannot wait to see what happens to Gil, Sean, Davy and Sabine in part two.
